Rejoice Always! Huh?? How? How Do We Do That?

How we so often run to merrymaking at the mention of “Rejoice”
How we so limit the expression of its many opportunities
How we so often define it within the enclose of our fast-changing experiences

We forget so soon, that we are fleeting, like the blind wind running by you
Our moments, so transitory like the brisk walking legs of this bare winter
We soon forget, that our rejoicing is not in these moments that leave us bare-handed

16 Rejoice always,
17 pray continually,
18 give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
(1Thes. 5:16-18) NIV

How do we “Rejoice”, “Always”?
Where “Always”, a term largely encompassing a great deal of varying times
Times of  horror and of elaborate celebrations?
Times of deep bone-chipping sorrow and of rainbows and sunshine

How do we rejoice…always?
Is this then an intended oxymoron?
A play on the failed human nature?

Our rejoicing must be on a thing immovable
A  thing, so constant and steady in “Itself”
Not fluctuating as the tails of the Dow Jones

Rejoice in the Lord always.
I will say it again: Rejoice!
(Phil. 4:4) NIV

The Being Itself
IS God – Unchanging

So, we miss it
when we define “rejoicing” in our brief successes

But in God’s unchanging nature
Where HE has crafted His will for us in Christ Jesus

Knowing that through the many rivers of life
We can rejoice always in one thing  – Christ and His unwavering Love for us.

  1. Yes! Yes!!
“Knowing that through the many rivers of life, we can REJOICE ALWAYS in one thing – Christ and His unwavering love for us”
This is the only thing that personally keeps me going, makes me ‘joyful’ amidst the many storms.

Much thank Favour, this is very encouraging!

  2. Indeed, rejoice always! My two favorite Bible verses are: In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you (1 Thes. 5:18), and ALL things work together for good to those who love the Lord. (Romans 8:28) Which takes away any possible reason not to rejoice. God bless you as you share truth and wisdom in your blog.
